CVSC Masters Swim Team

Since 2006, there has been 1 dominate team at the annual Masters Swim Meet.  For the 6th year in a row , Cherry Valley Swim Club Masters Swim Team WON the Masters Swim Meet at Brookside Swim Club. The Team scored 4,421 points, about 900 points more than the next closest team.  The Meet was dedicated to the memory of Mrs. Mary Wixted, a long time masters swimmer, who passed away this June at age 89.  Mary swam last year at age 88 in her last meet representing Cherry Valley Swim Club.  She was an inspiration and will be missed.

Many thanks to all our swimmers ranging in ages from 19 to 86 of all abilities.  Our youngest swimmer was 19 year old Emily Bart in her first masters meet while our oldest and wisest, was 86 year old Harry Singer a long time Masters swimmer!  Many thanks to Zach Katz who ensured that Harry got to the blocks and didn’t miss an event all day.  Another one of our Seniors, Mariana Hagan was able to swim with both her daughter, Anita Nieves and granddaughter, Linda Nieves.  3 Generations of family fun.   We also had folks from England who were visiting the US and wanted to swim for us.  Mick and Deborah Davis had a wonderful time in their first swim meet “across the pond”.   Nir Shamir and Peter Officer were both former National level swimmers who joined the CVSC Team.  They swam for Israel and England, respectively.  There are so many wonderful stories to tell……………….

Many thanks to Brookside for hosting a well-run meet.

Special thanks to “Coach” Steve Katz who organizes the team, gets us ready with lots of stroke and turn practice and fosters a fun and competitive spirit for all.  Thanks Steve!
